These restaurants, and the ones on the beach close to the hotel, were much cheaper than eating at the hotel - although their Friday 'Thai Street Market', although quite expensive, was good value in that it was plentiful and wine/beer was included. We ventured out very little - one night in Patong - something I never want to experience again!! And a couple of nights out to local restaurants - Kin Dee which is very good and also to Sai Kaew beach which was not so good but had a lovely setting. However, because the staff were so very helpful it was impossible to complain. there never seemed to be anyone in charge. Both were wonderful - although when we mentioned in the restaurant that it was 'a complimentary' meal we were given a different menu which made is feel a little like second class citizens! My main problem was, although the staff were so attentive and happy to help - if there was a problem, difficulty in language translation etc. We had included in our trip, booked through Trailfinders, a 3 course meal and a couples massage. The rooms themselves are lovely and I'm sure if you upgraded further still the rooms close to the beach would have been delightful. Our villa - 17 - a garden pool villa was delightful on arrival the only fault I could raise was that, because it backed on to the service road, you could see, above the wall cables from telegraph poles and traffic would occasionally disrupt the peace. Thank you for letting us know your concerns regarding the generator, though to be honest it has come as a surprise being you were there for just for the one night and the guests prior to you stayed for 2 weeks and they did not mention it, however we appreciate everyone is different. May I just note that the young Guest Relations Office who made the initial error, she personally drove over an hour to your hotel to deliver your charger in person to try and make-up amends for her mistake and in her own time as she felt so bad at what had happened. We were not under the impression that this was urgent to which we now appreciate was not the case and you were waiting anxiously for your charger. From our historical communication log we have found that the Front Desk staff of Centara Hotel were also involved unfortunately as their front desk staff told us that you could wait until the next day. We are extremely sorry for the delay in sending back your charger due to human error and poor communication amongst our team which we will endeavor to rectify moving forward. Bikini top is usually considered suitable beach/pool wear. While i accept Trip Advisor provide a useful service, peoples standards, experience and expectations differ, and reviews are a general guide only. Usually, in a situation where there is a problem, management would be contacted.
Every staff member was professional, attentive, helpful, all delivered in the usual charming Thai manner. We stayed in the Sala for 7 nights, which included all meals, and have nothing but praise for EVERY aspect of this well managed and run hotel. For the past 12 years, we have enjoyed holidays in all areas of South East Asia, staying in 4/ 5 star hotels. We have recently returned from an extensive stay in Thailand. On reading trip advisor, - Sala Phuket-and Yaminator 426 review, i really had to do a doubletake to check we were talking about the same hotel!!! We are a retired couple in our sixties and have travelled widely, excluding India, both on business and for leisure.
